Printable ASCII payload carried by an ECMA-48 control string.

The framing escape sequences are supplied by the terminal backend. Restricting the payload to printable ASCII prevents an extension protocol from terminating its string early or exposing C1-valued UTF-8 continuation bytes to a byte-oriented terminal parser.
